The “Too Cheap” Market Sector: Oil and Gas

Provided to subscribers November 8, 2020
Summary:

  • Best Values in a Deeply Oversold Industry
  • LOTM s Best Stocks in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Ranking by Analysts (Fundamental) and Technical Analysis (Momentum)

VALUE:
The best 2020 values at the moment in the stock market are in energy, especially Natural Gas. We put together a list of some companies that look attractive for longer term. Some are debt free; most have modest debt and a couple have sizable debt that seems manageable.

DIVIDENDS:
A couple of the companies that are debt free and nearly debt free royalty companies that pay really attractive dividends that will grow when these companies expand drilling activity. They are MNRL and BSM (see below).

RANKINGS:
We have technical opinion and analyst opinions indicated. Neutral is the best technical opinion available now.

  • A technical opinion follows the stock’s price action. Price movement could come before or after an analyst upgrade.
  • An analyst’s opinion shift (a sell/neutral shifts to a buy) that comes before the technical buy signal opinion is what we want to see. This tell us the companies are already seen as good to great values by analysts and they foresee positive trends coming. By seeking this profile, we have time to consider and position in the industry and hope that we are not too early!

A couple of tactical ideas on how to use this is

  1. begin accumulating the companies that are the dividend payers you want. Accelerate buying as the technical signals turn positive.
  2. Another might be to decide which one, two or three you want to own for trading and decide how much you want to own and wait for the technical signals to turn positive. It will likely be 10% to 20% higher as Technical Analysis is a price following methodology. Once the trading signals turn positive, make your purchases.

COMMENTS:

  • This was written and sent to subscriber Prior to Mondays dramatic and explosive move in the energy (Oil & Gas). Todays action has moved all but EQT to technical buy signals.
  • If given a year’s time, the dividend stocks could give you an above average dividend and a double in stock price.
