Who Holds All The Bitcoin?
By Kevin Rooke

  • No source date given and not as current as the Publicly Traded company list above.
  • Listing of the 64 largest holders of Bitcoin, ranked in Billions of US$, that includes Governments, Private Individuals and Private Companies along with publicly reporting American companies.
  • Follow the link in the title for full listing.
  • Interesting to see both the Chinese and USA governments near the top of the list. Perhaps a “Do as I say, not as I do” policy.

The Making of a Billionaire – Tim Draper, Venture Capitalist
Tim Draper, #9 on the list above credits his Mother & Father for setting the path for his life.

  • MOTHER: I’m going to give my mother a lot of credit here. My mom just said, “go explore.” I think she may have just wanted me out of her hair but for me, that was like, “Wow, the world is completely open.”

When I was 14, she and her friend dropped us off at the base of Mount Rainier. My friend was 15. And they had helped us pack our backpacks and then they say, we’ll see you in a week over here, about 67 miles away. So, we had to work our way around and get there.

  • FATHER: My dad told me when I started work, “just put in that extra 10%.” And I thought, “Oh God, Dad, I’m already giving these guys eight hours a day. Why would I ever put in another 10%?”

And it turns out is that the extra 10% is all the fun. And then that 10% can become 20% and then it can become your entire life.

  • WEALTH: Draper is a legend in the world of venture capital. Since the mid-1980s, he has built a fortune making early investments in companies like Hotmail, Skype, BaiduTesla and SpaceX.

He is also a vocal advocate of and investor in bitcoin and blockchain technology. In 2014, he purchased 30,000 bitcoin seized by the U.S. Marshals (bitcoin was worth around $600 at the time) and he says he has invested in over 50 cryptocurrency-related companies. He’s led investments in Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange that went public in April, Ledger, a cryptocurrency wallet maker; and Tezos, an open-source blockchain platform, to name a few.

  • Having a Grandfather and Father who were Venture Capitalists helped as well – but I digress.
